Andrew Williams

Dr Andrew Williams BMedSc, MBChB, FRACS, FUSANZ is a New Zealand–trained urologist with subspecialist expertise in urological oncology, robotic surgery, and complex cancer care. After completing his urology training—becoming one of New Zealand's youngest qualified urologists—he undertook a prestigious two‑year fellowship in Urological Oncology at the University of Western Ontario. This fellowship provided extensive exposure to high‑volume cancer surgery and multidisciplinary practice across surgical, medical, and radiation oncology.

Since returning to New Zealand, Dr Williams has served as a Consultant Urologist at Auckland District Health Board. He has been appointed to several senior leadership roles, including Chief Examiner in Urology for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Chair of the New Zealand Urology Training and Education Committee, and Urology Clinical Lead for the Cancer Control Agency of New Zealand. He is frequently sought by the Medical Council and the College of Surgeons for expert input into urology services across the country. His academic contributions include securing substantial research funding, publishing widely in peer‑reviewed journals, and authoring book chapters and review articles on prostate enlargement and urological cancers.

In recent years, Dr Williams has led the bladder cancer service at Auckland Hospital and now brings this expertise into the private sector, where he offers a comprehensive suite of both non‑invasive and invasive bladder cancer treatments.

While providing care across the full spectrum of urology, Andrew has particular expertise in robotic, laparoscopic, and open cancer surgery. He has extensive experience managing all urological cancers and is often referred complex cases from around New Zealand. He consults across multiple specialist centres in Auckland as part of the region's largest collaborative urology practice.

Outside of medicine, Andrew enjoys spending time with his two teenage daughters and makes a point of escaping work to unwind through mountain biking and skiing in the South Island.
